Student Film Association

Student Film Association is committed to enabling students to develop their cine matic craft. The organization accomplishes its mission by offering resources, guidance, and organization to student filmmakers to realize their vision in a narrative-driven cinematic language. We develop and produce several projects at once while pushing students to elevate their art.

Formed from a simple idea, SFA has grown to roughly 350 undergraduates from a number of academic disciplines.

Ideas, pitches, and scripts of any nature are welcomed by club members or any UNC student. After a thorough assessment, greenlit productions are assigned a producer. Writers and producers then build a production crew consisting of actors, editors, cinematographers, and set crew. Across the next couple of months, these members work hard to develop a quality piece of work suitable for a multitude of audiences.

These films are then presented at the annual SFA Film Festival , our major end-of-year event that showcases the hard work of our members.
