SPAG is an organized forum where students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and staff can learn about and advocate for science policy. Our goal is to empower our members to improve upon existing policy, advocate for scientific research and education, and increase public awareness of science policy issues. We engage local, state, and federal legislators to advocate for science policy, and we perform community outreach to improve the communication between scientists and the public. Additionally, we host the Science Policy Speaker Series and we organize professional development and networking events for students and postdoctoral fellows –these events improve the effectiveness of our members as science policy advocates and increase their readiness for policy-focused careers. Our mission is to promote the role of science in public policy and to expand public access to, and awareness of, scientific innovation.
