ATHENA is an organization focused on Advanced Health Equity in Novel Applications Training for Students, whose mission is to empower students to lead using a multi-disciplinary approach [ATHENA is an organization focused on Advanced Health Equity in Novel Applications Training for Students, whose mission is to empower students to lead using a multi-disciplinary approach. This goal is achieved through its three core initiatives: Symposia (Think), which involves simulation-based learning to provide insight into the complexities of the healthcare ecosystem; Odysseia (Explore), which offers international exploration through medical and business brigades; and Agora (Serve), which focuses on community engagement and service. The overall structure of ATHENA cultivates systems thinking and aims to develop interdisciplinary leaders who think critically, act globally, and serve with purpose.
