The purpose of AMEXCAN at UNC is to serve as a platform that provides a network and support system for students of Mexican heritage and students interested in Mexican culture. Our organization is dedicated to fostering community through community service, volunteerism, and social awareness. The objectives of AMEXCAN at UNC are:
To foster community empowerment by focusing on the needs and concerns of Mexican Americans on campus through volunteer opportunities in the Orange County community.
To serve as an advocate for the needs and concerns of Mexican Americans on campus and in the local community.
To celebrate and honor the diverse Mexican culture; from the traditions, arts, and contributions, Mexico varies from state to state, and we aim to showcase these to the Tar Heel community.
To provide Mexican Americans and their allies with community building, where they can build lifelong connections with others of the same interest rooted in the knowledge of Mexican culture.
