About the Community:

Hinton James, or HoJo, is a social hub on campus and home to over 900 first-year students. Residents can join in on volleyball or pick-up basketball games outside, host study groups in lounges, or chat with friends on one of HoJo’s many balconies. HoJo’s close proximity to the Dean Smith Center provides an added bonus for sports fans, making it easy to go to-and-from basketball games with friends.

Hinton James is home to the First Generation Residential Learning Program (First Gen RLP), which serves self-identified first-generation students during their first year at Carolina through co-curricular activities, learning spaces, and connections intended to enhance their UNC experience.
