GlobeMed At UNC-CH

GlobeMed is a student-led organization that partners with and fundraises for our global partner ASSADE, a Guatemalan grassroots nonprofit organization that provides reproductive and oral healthcare to people who would otherwise have limited access to these essential forms of healthcare. In addition to our international partnership, we collaborate with various nonprofit organizations in the Research Triangle Park area. Our work includes public health educational outreach projects aimed at raising awareness and promoting education on important health topics within the UNC community and among local high school and middle school students. GlobeMed is committed to building sustainable, community-driven solutions to improve global health equity.

Throughout the year, we have many fundraising and volunteering events to raise money for ASSADE and our local partners, and we send interns to help ASSADE in Guatemala over each summer. We also hold weekly general body meetings where we discuss pertinent public health issues, invite public health researchers for guest speaker events, and work on committee projects that make real, tangible impacts on the health of our community.
