The purpose of Filling in the Gaps: Health Policy Interest Group, is to "fill in the gaps" in the education of medical students on health policy, structure, and finance. The primary goal of the organization is to bring in speakers and educators to help us best understand the current state of health policy/structure/finance at the corporate, institutional, state, and national level. With a stronger understanding of the systems in which we operate, we can better serve our patients and improve systems.

Mission Statement:

“Filling the Gaps empowers medical students to become informed, proactive, and system-savvy physicians by providing structured, longitudinal education in health policy, healthcare systems, and finance.

Through interactive workshops, and a curated monthly newsletter, we bridge the gap between clinical training and healthcare system literacy. Our mission is to equip future physicians with the knowledge and skills to evaluate, navigate, and influence healthcare policy and organizational structures, ensuring that they can advocate effectively for patients, improve health system performance, and contribute to equitable, evidence-based care.”
