Active Event scheduled for 24 Sep 2026: DiPhi Experimental DEBATE
Listed for 24 Sep 2026
NOTE: To join DiPhi, you must attend our meetings and petition in-person. Please do not request membership through HeelLife. Thanks!
The Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies (DiPhi for short) are the oldest student organizations at UNC. From giving the university its colors (Carolina Blue and White) to starting the university’s libraries by donating their collections in 1886, DiPhi has been an active participant in the history of UNC, and you could be a part of that history.
We meet every Monday at 7:30 post meridian in the Dialectic Chambers at the top of New West. The first half of our meeting consists of a debate on a preselected topic, and the second half is PPMA's! PPMA's can be written speeches, improvisations, skits, songs, whatever you can fit into five minutes, just raise your hand to get the floor. Guests are always welcome and encouraged (but never forced) to speak.
You can join DiPhi by petitioning one of the two societies for membership. It's a truly wonderful experience that gives you a chance to talk about any topic of your choice and learn a bit about UNC's history. For more information on joining, please visit our website here . Also, add yourself to o
