Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University. It is the first black Greek-lettered sorority, and it is an organization devoted to fellowship among college women, high scholastic and ethical standards, and service to all mankind.
The Theta Pi chapter was chartered at UNC-CH on April 20, 1974, by fourteen phenomenal women. Members of our organization are represented in a number of on-campus student organizations including the McNair Scholars Program, Robertson Scholars, Morehead-Cain Scholars, Admission Ambassadors, The Daily Tar Heel, the Black Student Movement, and the Campus Y.
The theme of our 2022-2026 International Programs is Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood . The “Foundation Initiative” is Strengthen Our Sisterhood with five initiatives serving as “Program Initiatives”. Those initiatives are Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, and Uplift Our Local Community.
