Clearwater Investment Group is the premier student-led organization at UNC Chapel Hill dedicated to providing hands-on experience in sell-side M&A analysis and algorithmic trading. We were founded in 2023 by David Bass (incoming investment banking analyst at Moelis & Co.) and Aryan Shelke (incoming CIB analyst at J.P. Morgan) who have successfully navigated the finance recruitment process and used their knowledge to build the foundation of this club's materials and approaches. Unlike other investment clubs on campus, Clearwater focuses on directly applicable financial training, equipping students with the skills necessary to succeed in careers in Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, and Hedge Funds.
Our M&A division trains students to build M&A financial valuation models, prepare Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs), and develop sell-side pitch decks, replicating real-world investment banking methods. Our quantitative division teaches students to create trading algorithms using Python and TradingView, analyze quantitative trading patterns (MACD, RSI, etc.), and prepare for roles at top quant funds.
