Alpha Alpha Alpha, or Tri-Alpha, is a National Honor Society founded in 2018 for high-achieving first-generation college students. Tri-Alpha promotes academic excellence and provides opportunities for leadership experience and personal growth amongst First-Generation college students.

Here at UNC Chapel Hill, the Alpha Rho chapter of Tri-Alpha continues to grow as we move into our third year on UNC’s campus. Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment and established community for first-generation Tar Heels, as well as resources for college success, networking opportunities, and the recognition of your academic success at Carolina. First-generation students face unique challenges in higher education, and we aim to celebrate the victories–both big and small–of our community.

Students eligible for membership meet the following criteria:

* Come from a family where neither parent, step-parents, nor any legal guardians earned a bachelor’s degree, and
 * For undergraduate students: Be a current bachelor’s degree candidate at UNC-Chapel Hill who has completed at least three full-time terms of study (minimum 36 credit hours), at least one of which must have been at UNC
