Campus Y Student Organization

The Campus Y is the hub for social justice at UNC.

The Campus Y is a collaborative space that unites students, staff, faculty, and community partners in the pursuit of social justice. We work locally and globally toward a more just and equitable future with a commitment to inclusion, education, and open dialogue. We are evolving as a community that advocates for positive social change through service, innovation, and direct action.

Our strategy:

We support 20+ committees seeking to achieve transformative impact on both students and communities through direct service, advocacy, community engagement, innovation, education and activism.

Our history:

At 160+ years old, the Campus Y is the 3rd oldest student organization in the country. The Y led efforts to integrate campus in the 60s, protested the Vietnam War in the 70s, and encouraged divestment from South Africa in the 90s.

The current Campus Y Student Organization:

The current Campus Y Student Organization includes over 1500 undergraduate members working in 20+ committees. The 20+ student-led committees do work on issues of hunger, public health, international development, human rights, education and youth, environmental
