We are one of the nation's first informal grassroots student chapters of the national organization Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE). IRE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of investigative reporting. Investigative Reporters and Editors Inc. began in 1975 as the brainchild of a small group of reporters from around the country, who wanted to share tips about reporting and writing. Our mission, shared with Investigative Reporters and Editors, is to foster excellence in investigative journalism, which is essential to a free society. We also uplift and amplify our sister student orgs dedicated to journalism and media by promoting and co-sponsoring events, including NAHJ, CABJ, and AAJA on campus.
