LUSO is a student organization at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill dedicated to celebrating and promoting the languages, cultures, histories, and traditions of Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) communities around the world.

Our mission is to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment where students can explore the diversity of the Lusophone world, build meaningful connections, and develop a greater appreciation for Portuguese-speaking cultures.

Through cultural celebrations, interactive activities, language practice, educational discussions, and social events, LUSO connects students with the rich traditions of Portuguese-speaking countries and communities, including Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Timor-Leste, and beyond.

What We Offer:

Opportunities to practice Portuguese in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Interactive games, social gatherings, and community-building activities. Connections with UNC’s Portuguese Department, faculty, and academic resources.

Opportunities to develop friendships and…
