About

The 1000 Origami Crane Project is a UNC-Chapel Hill student organization that uses origami as a way to bring hope, creativity, and positivity to healthcare settings. Inspired by the tradition of folding 1,000 origami cranes as a symbol of healing, peace, and hope, members will work together to create large-scale 1,000-crane displays for hospitals and healthcare facilities. We will also create smaller origami decorations for patient spaces and explore opportunities to teach patients, children, and families how to make their own origami when permitted by our healthcare partners.

Through regular campus folding sessions, workshops, service projects, and partnerships with local hospitals and healthcare organizations, the 1000 Origami Crane Project will give students an opportunity to combine creativity with meaningful community service. Our goal is to create moments of joy and connection for patients and families while building a welcoming community of students who are passionate about art, service, and making a positive impact.
