Break the Silence (BTS) exists to educate, empower, and mobilize Carolina students and surrounding communities to recognize, prevent, and respond to intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and unhealthy relationship dynamics. Through survivor-centered dialogue, evidence-based education, and accessible resources, BTS works to dismantle stigma, challenge harmful myths, and foster a campus and community culture rooted in safety, compassion, and accountability. Our mission is to interrupt cycles of generational trauma by equipping individuals with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to build and sustain healthy relationships. Past BTS sessions have engaged college-returning students and members of the Catawba EMS Department, creating meaningful conversations that bridge survivors, professionals, and the broader community.
