The Body Composition and Anatomy Alliance (BCAA) at UNC-Chapel Hill is an organization designed to build community within medical students who are interested in learning about anatomical and physiological corollaries that underlie the art of bodybuilding. Members are encouraged to attend regular meetings that discuss the mechanics behind strength training and hypertrophy, how different movements target specific muscle groups to optimize strength or growth, and how lifestyle modifications such as sleep, diet, and nutrition play a role in physical performance. The BCAA aims to create a social and educational space where members are able to share their love for bodybuilding and other forms of weight training while expanding their understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system.
