Youth For Innocence at Carolina

Youth for Innocence at Carolina is a chapter of Youth For Innocence. We gather youth student volunteers within the UNC and local communities to examine wrongful conviction cases, primarily in North Carolina, and look for new pathways to prove their innocence. This work is done through the summarization of transcripts and other documents and the creation of supplementary documents such as timelines, maps, and subject-specific memos. Once our work is finished, these documents and cases will be presented to attorneys. This preliminary investigation and non-legal advocacy inform attorneys of both factual innocence and a way to overturn the wrongful conviction.
