UNC Young Democrats is the College Democrats chapter at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Founded in 1939, UNC YD is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the nation!
We are a group of like minded, motivated students who take action on the issues most important to us. As a UNC YD member, you can expect to: register your fellow Tar Heels to vote, empower and inform your peers, interact with democratic officials and candidates on campus, plan and host engaging events like town halls and speaker panels, collaborate and partner with other student organizations, and so much more!
Over the years, our organization has become a statewide leader, hosting numerous democratic speakers including Presidents John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama, Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Jon Ossoff, Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, Beto O'Rourke, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton, and so many others. We are proud to count former Governor Roy Cooper among our alumni.
Today, our organization provides students with the opportunity to make a tremendous impact on our community, meet like minded Tar Heels, and have fun while doing it!
