UNC-CH Ek Taal

UNC Ek Taal aims to spread awareness of Indian classical dance forms by performing around the community and nation with our competition and showcase teams. Our competitive team primarily consists of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancers who compete in the national Origins circuit, and our showcase team welcomes all styles of Indian classical dance while performing recreationally at various community events. We aim to combine our passion for these age old artforms with contemporary themes while staying true to the ancient teachings involving rhythm, facial expressions, and hand gestures. The purpose of this organization is to further the understanding and appreciation for these age old Indian art forms, while enriching the campus community with cultural diversity, and bridging cultural gaps through the universal art form of dance.
