UNC Institute for Healthcare Improvement Open School Chapter

The UNC IHI Open School Chapter helps members build skills in quality improvement, patient safety, and leadership. Members gain experience through IHI's online courses, participate in URFO, training, and Speaker Series with healthcare professionals to explore real-world strategies to improve healthcare.

Our branch at UNC works to accomplish this through collaborative initiatives, coursework, quality improvement projects, and a speaker series. We kicked off our independent study for the first time in Spring 2011 in the Health Policy and Management department at the School of Public Health. This independent study allows students to earn credit for completing the Open School's online courses in patient safety, quality improvement, and leadership. Our project managers are responsible for identifying and leading quality improvement initiatives at UNC Hospitals and other healthcare organizations in the area.
