The Religious Studies Club at UNC

RELIC (The Religious Studies Club at UNC) is a secular, student-led organization dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community centered on the academic study of religion and culture. Our mission is to make the critical study of religion more accessible by creating spaces for thoughtful dialogue, interdisciplinary collaboration, and public engagement.

We believe that understanding religion (historically, socially, and culturally) is essential to understanding the human experience. Through our events and discussions, we explore how religion intersects with art, politics, ethics, identity, and daily life, while maintaining a clear distinction between studying religion and practicing it.

In partnership with the Department of Religious Studies and other student groups, RELIC hosts a variety of events, including:

Monthly casual meetings to discuss religion in the news and other related topics

Trivia nights

Film screenings and guided discussions

Panels featuring scholars and experts
